Non-Governmental Civil Rights Organization Russian Financial Consumers Protection Union (FinPotrebSouz)
In accordance with The Russian Federation Law № 2300-I «On Protection of Consumers’ Rights», dated on 07.02.1992 and Federal Law №82-FZ «On Public Associations», dated on 19.05.1995, The Administration of Moscow Department of Russian Ministry of Justice registered a regional public organization for protection of consumers’ rights at the financial service market, «Financial Service Consumer Unit»,later on called «FinPotrebSouz» (Russian abbreviation), on 30.04.2010, which in July 2010 gained the status of an interregional one. The goal of FinPotrebSouz is protection of consumers’ rights and statutory interests in the financial service sphere, assistance in creation of a fair and civilized financial consumer market in the interests of Russian citizens – consumers, propaganda in favor of financial competence and general public literacy in this field. Within The Russian Federation, there have been established 26 regional departments, functioning on the base of the FinPotrebSouz Statute. As an integrate part of its activity, FinPotrebSouz cooperates with federal organs of the executive power: Federal agency of supervision in the sphere of consumers’ rights protection and human welfare, Federal agency of financial market control, Federal antimonopoly agency, Rosfinnadzor (Russian Financial Control), State corporation «Deposit Insurance Agency» etc.; set up connections with the institute of a public reconciliatory (financial ombudsman), established in Russia, signed a cooperation agreement with a number of public and professional organizations: National association of stock market participants, national stock association, Association of Russian banks, Association of regional banks, Moscow Interbank Exchange, Stock exchange RTS.
